On Monday, the United Nations Special Envoy for the Sahel, Mr. Romano Prodi, attended a retreat of United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinators in the countries of the Sahel, in Dakar.The meeting was organized by Mr. David Gressly, the United Nations Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Sahel. The discussions focused on the humanitarian and development challenges in the Sahel region, existing mechanisms to address them and ways by which they could be reinforced.

Quelle est la différence exacte entre les deux? Prodi fait-il de l´humanitaire aussi?
ReplyDeleteLe rôle de Romano Prodi comme envoyé spécial est celui de mener des consultations avec les Etats membres de la région, ainsi qu’avec les organisations régionales et sous-régionales et d’autres partenaires internationaux en vue de finaliser et mettre en œuvre la stratégie régionale intégrée des Nations Unies au Sahel. L’Envoyé Spécial entreprend en outre des missions de bons offices au nom du Secrétaire général, en particulier pour ce qui est des efforts de médiation nationaux, régionaux et internationaux dans la sous-région ainsi que pour des questions transnationales et transfrontières.
